Preliminary studies highlight that MCT is an effective treatment for PTSD in adults, however less is known on the acceptability, feasibility and efficacy of MCT for PTSD in youth. Simons and Kursawe (2019) evaluated MCT for children and adolescents with PTSD. 21 children and adolescents (8-19 years old) received on average 7 session of MCT (range 3-14 sessions). At post-treatment 85% of patients were classified as recovered (using the Child PTSD Symptom Scale). The results provide preliminary evidence that MCT is a feasible treatment for children and adolescents with PTSD, however further large scale trials comparing MCT to well-established interventions are required.
