Mental Health Innovation of the Year: Metacognitive Therapy Makes the Short list

Congratulations to the MCT-PATHWAY and PATHWAY Beacons teams (led by Prof. Adrian Wells) on their shortlisting for Mental Health Innovation of the Year at the HSJ Awards !

MCT-PATHWAY evaluated the effectiveness of group Metacognitive therapy for patients with cardiovascular disease, where they found the group-MCT plus cardiac rehabilitation was more effective than cardiac rehabilitation alone at improving anxiety and low mood. Group MCT also halved the deterioration rate.

PATHWAY Beacons has been evaluating the roll out of group-MCT across cardiac rehabilitation services in the UK National Health Services.
